We are committed to sharing the inspiring and thought-provoking writings of this acclaimed author with the world. Through our programs and initiatives, we aim to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Kahlil Gibran's literary legacy.
Over the years, we have impacted the lives of thousands of children through our various programs. We are proud of the positive impact we have made in their lives.
Kahlil Gibran was a Syrian-Lebanese born poet, artist, and philosopher most famous for his 1923 book
"The Prophet", a collection of 26 prose poems. The book grew in popularity in the 1960's counterculture movement. Through its acclaim, Gibran is reported to be the third best-selling poet in world history, behind Shakespeare and Lao Tsu.
Gibran was born in the village of Besharri near the biblical Cedars of Lebanon. In boyhood, he emigrated to Boston, Massachusetts, USA, where he began his career as an artist and author. His books, written in both English and Arabic, have been translated into numerous languages and are widely quoted. He died in New York City in 1931.
Gibran's Legacy is within the powerful simplicity of his words, which continue to inspire those who long for peace, search for love, and strive for justice.
Our aim is to preserve Kahlil Gibran’s legacy and accomplishments in the fields of literacy, poetry, philosophy, and art.

This quote is from his renowned work, "The Prophet," and it reflects Gibran's belief in the transformative power of suffering and adversity.
"It was but yesterday I thought myself a fragment quivering without rhythm in the sphere of life.
Now I know that I am the sphere,
and all life in rhythmic fragments moves within me.
They say to me in their awakening,
“You and the world you live in are but a grain of sand upon the infinite shore of an infinite sea.”
And in my dream I say to them, “I am the infinite sea, and all worlds are but grains of sand upon my shore.”
This passage explores the themes of self-discovery, interconnectedness, and perspective.
From Fragmentation to Wholeness:
Initially, the speaker feels disconnected and insignificant, “a fragment quivering without rhythm,” suggesting a sense of isolation and lack of purpose.
Upon awakening to deeper self-awareness, they recognize their true essence as the “sphere”—a metaphor for wholeness, unity, and self-completeness.
This realization transforms their view of life, seeing all existence as interconnected fragments, like grains of sand, moving rhythmically within them.
Ultimately, this passage speaks to the profound realization of unity and the discovery of meaning in one’s relationship with the greater whole. It encourages introspection about the balance between individuality and universality.
